The Overland Event is proud to be helping Motorcycle Outreach again in 2018.
Healthcare delivery in rural areas clearly depends on transport, and the vehicles used need to be systematically selected and maintained. Motorcycle Outreach is a registered charity (non-profit) which assists governmental and non governmental organisations to do exactly this.
Access to basic community healthcare is an essential and often forgotten need. Visits by healthcare professionals to remote villages improve child health monitoring, maternal and infant mortality and overall community awareness of basic health issues. Health education, routine vaccinations and early detection of health issues such as malnutrition improves lives immeasurably. It is reliable transport options which magnify the reach and effectiveness of healthcare professionals.
Motorcycle Outreach currently supports an established project in Indonesia and has also supported the Pikilily initiative in Tanzania. Recent successes include the building of a new motorcycle workshop in Flores. MoR is actively looking to support new projects which offer healthcare logistics by motorcycle in the developing world.
